Craig Can Come To You

With his laptop computer and a portable printer, certified practising accountant Craig Roberts is set to go see clients.

With several years' experience in Wollongong and Sydney, Mr Roberts set up his company, Abacus, offering a mobile taxation accounting service.

``So far as I know I am the only CPA doing this and during my years working out of an office I saw a need for a more personal service," he said.

``There are a lot of services these days which go to a client's home so I thought why not taxation."

Mr Roberts said in a client's own home there was more chance that all the paperwork needed to complete a tax return was at hand making the task much quicker.

``When it comes to a normal salary and wages return, provided all the paperwork is in order, it should take only about half an hour to complete the client's tax return," he said.

``And if my fee is paid at the time, I can make arrangements for the refund to be paid direct into the client's bank account."

The CPA is willing to meet clients at any time or day suitable to them and a phone call to make an appointment is all that is required.

Mr Roberts said once again this year the Tax Office would be closely monitoring claims relating to rental properties and work-related expenses.

``Taxpayers must keep all receipts for their expenses and be prepared to substantiate claims," he said.
